Cave Creek / Carefree
These touching towns are located north of Phoenix, they join high in the Sonoran desert. Carefree has million-dollar homes and is a resort town with upscale restaurants, golf courses, and some part-time residents. Cave Creek has an Old West character and is an eclectic area with, bars, galleries, and restaurants. Both towns draw visitors.
In Cave Creek, you can find horse properties, larger lots, a desert lifestyle, and a more small-town feel, far from a large downtown. Carefree has a more upscale, resort-feel, and more affluent homes and is a retreat for the upscale. Both Carefree and Cave Creek residents are conservative of their open desert and don’t encourage booming growth. Cave Creek’s unique bars and galleries draw visitors.
Carefree and Cave Creek have some of the most beautiful desert landscapes in the Valley. Black Mountain, Cave Creek Regional Park, the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve, and Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area all are nearby or amongst the communities and offer hiking and biking trails. Bartlett Lake Marina nearby offers rentals of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and motorized crafts for water sports or fishing.
